‘Following an investment of €350,000, the first beach on the giant Alqueva dam opened this month with a Blue Flag’
OLLOWING AN investment of €350,000, the first beach on the giant Alqueva dam opened this month with a Blue Flag, which recognises high quality of water, cleanliness and safety standards.
Located by the Monsaraz Nautical Centre in Reguengos de Monsaraz, the new freshwater beach is 120 metres long, with a lifeguard tower, public showers, sunshades, first-aid post and 120 parking spaces joining an existing bar, restaurant, children’s play area, picnic area, and dock and boat ramp.
As well as the Blue Flag, the beach has also been classed as a “Healthy Beach” and an “Accessible Beach”, thanks to access ramps for bathers with mobility problems. Across from the beach there is also a floating swimming pool with solarium, and a grassy area with plenty of shade.
